“What’s your California Roll?”

As we have been going through the process to develop our mobile and cloud app which is designed to help employers manage employee attendance, I have been struggling to get the development team to not overcomplicate it.

They are always pushing back saying “what if” and while these are valid questions we could be answering these questions forever and never ship anything.

I then pushed back that we are trying to simplify an existing process.

The other day I pointed out that at its simplest level we are initially looking to replace/improve the paper timesheet — this is our California roll. You could see the change in their thinking immediately.
